Greetings!

My name is Dr Deb, I am a Veterinarian with 40 years of experience in various areas of Veterinary Medicine, from hedgehogs to Angus bulls. I've practiced in small town Iowa, Sydney, and Perth, volunteered at the RSPCA in South Africa, and lectured for community colleges and Universities.

Over the last 18 years I have created a practice that I am proud to call my own. I called it Compassionate Veterinary Medicine to highlight my desire to provide the utmost alternative care for your furry family member.

If you've already met me, you know most things about me- I like to talk a lot. For those of you who don't know my life story, please enjoy the paraphrased version...

I grew up in Minnesota with the strong desire to be a Veterinarian despite any difficulties I faced. I met my husband, Brian during college and we moved to Schaller, Iowa to start our first practices as a dynamic duo. Brian started Schaller Family Sports Chiropractic and I opened Schaller Vet Clinic in an old human hospital which was a connected building. We raised our children- Tana and Erik in the kennels of the vet clinic and taught them about owning our own business and the importance of community.

In 1996 we decided to have a sea change and moved to Durban, South Africa where we met the most amazing people, enjoyed delicious wine, and explored the country with lots of safaris. In 1999 it was time to return to Iowa and we settled into our old farmhouse home that we had renovated. When Murdoch University sought out Brian to help form the foundations for a Chiropractic degree, we moved to Perth in 2003. While practicing and opening Compassionate Veterinary Medicine, I also enjoyed teaching human anatomy and practice management as a Senior Lecturer. I also undertook my Masters of Business Administration, graduating in 2008.

When Murdoch was well established and we had watched many proud graduation ceremonies, we looked forward to our new adventure in Sydney. In 2012, I reopened my practice in our backyard and even managed to see Perth dogs in Sydney while they competed in trials.

Brian and I moved back to the US in 2017, where we have settled into working at another Chiropractic college in California- where Brian and I both teach currently. I now fly back and forth between the family in California, Minnesota, Iowa, New York, and Perth.

I love having a sense of purpose and being needed by my loyal and important clients (and grandkids) makes me feel very happy.

There is a vast history here, which helps me show further compassion for your animals and understanding for your desire to help them live their best lives. I want to be part of that journey with you. I look forward to adding your animal to the story that makes me Dr Deb.

Please note, I currently require face masks to visit my clinics to ensure minimal spread of COVID-19
